Gonski funding for your school

June 28, 2013

Gonksi would deliver fairer, more consistent funding arrangements, and help ensure all schools have the resources they need to educate each student to a high standard, provide more one-on-one attention, and build stronger school-family-community partnerships.

Many key school stakeholders by way of a broad alliance co-signed an open letter to Premier Napthine, calling on the Premier to sign up to Gonski.

Click on this link for a list of what individual schools would receive. You and/or your school council may want to contact your local member of parliament to inform him/her about how your school would benefit from the Gonski funding. See the local members list here.

School council training

June 04, 2013

Improving school governance is a school council training package that has been developed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to support school council members to confidently and effectively fulfil their role. The online package comprises four modules:

  • Induction
  • Strategic Planning
  • Finance
  • Policy Development and Review.

As well, individual councils or clusters of councils may wish to directly engage an accredited school council trainer. Contact VICCSO or DEECD for a list of trainers. For further information and related inquiries, contact Jan Watson, Senior Officer, School Operations and Governance Unit, DEECD, on (03) 9637 3381 or by email at community.stakeholders@edumail.vic.gov.au.
