Great books offer

The first book is Bring Your Own Technology: the BYOT Guide for Schools and Families. Drawing on the work of pathfinding schools in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and the UK, authors Mal Lee and Martin Levins provide insights into:

  • The practicalities of achieving sustained student usage

The second book is Collaboration in Learning: Transcending the Classroom Walls. School council elections

February 19, 2013

School council elections are held in February or March each year. All parents or guardians of students enrolled at the school are eligible to vote for parent members, and staff vote for staff members. Community members are coopted by the council. Risk management

The proactive identification and management of risk and opportunity are integral to good management and good governance. DEECD's Enhanced Risk Management Framework provides tools for principals and managers. Principals, leadership teams and school councils can also use the tools in developing or reviewing policy, plans, proposals and partnerships pertaining to school innovation and students' learning experiences and outcomes.

An e-learning module, developed for principals and managers, is also available to school councils at http://www.elearn.com.au/deecd/risk/. The login username is deecd and the password is risk. Completion of the module takes around 30 minutes and provides an understanding of the Framework using a case study of a school overseas study.
